Perhaps COVID has drained you and ringing in the new year in NYC is just a little too much this year. Perhaps you’d like a little weekend vacation to celebrate the arrival of 2022. Today, we’re showing you 5 last-minute getaways within driving distance of NYC, so that you can do just that!

1. Long Island, NY

Drive Time: 1.5 hours

On Long Island, Mirabelle Tavern at the Three Village Inn is hosting a special eight-course chef’s tasting dinner menu from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this New Year’s Eve. The cost is $105-$160 per-person depending on whether you’d like a wine pairing to go with your meal. Reservations are recommended (and necessary if you’d like to dine in a private igloo).

In the heart of Southampton Village, Southampton Inn is a charming 90-key hotel and will also be hosting a special New Year’s Eve evening full of food and entertainment by Broadway and Opera singer Cristina Fontanelli. Dinner at Claude's Restaurant will be served a la carte from 6 pm to 10 pm and the bar will be open from 5pm and will remain open until the ball drops at midnight. An all-inclusive package

of $125 per-person, including hor d’oeuvres, dinner and a live performance will be followed by a Prosecco toast at midnight. Rooms at Southampton start at $250 per night and the hotel will be offering their award-winning brunch on New Year's day from 9 am to 2 pm.

2. Hudson Valley, NY

Drive time: 2 hours

Greet 2022 in Hudson Valley style at Troutbeck, an Estate Hotel. It's a two hour drive via Taconic State Parkway, where Troutbeck has curated a series of wellness experiences including a unique Kinesoma Experience ($25) on New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Day, guests can participate in the Flow Into This New Year Class ($30) that combines movement flows and mindfulness meditation to embody grace and focus on the new year. Rooms start at $475.

3. Asbury Park, NJ

Drive Time: 1 hour 15 minutes

Just over an hour outside of New York City, the Jersey Shore’s Asbury Ocean Club is an upscale seaside escape that is perfect for low-key New Years Eve. With breathtaking ocean views, rooms here start at $400 per night (a little pricey, but well worth it). If you’re looking for a little NYE action, just around the corner, Remember Jones will be performing at The Asbury hotel’s Asbury Lanes and the concert will end at midnight with a champagne toast. (Tickets start at $35).

4. Finger Lakes, NY

Drive time: 5.5 hours

A half day's drive outside of NYC, The Lake House on Canandaigua is beloved by locals and visitors alike. This New Year’s Eve, guests can experience The New Year’s Celebration package which includes a three-course New Year’s Eve dinner at Rose Tavern followed by a New Year’s Eve celebration featuring live music and a countdown toast to the new year at midnight. The party continues the following morning with a New Year’s Day brunch.

5. St. Michael’s, MD

Drive Time: Under 3.5 hours

The coastal town of St. Michael's on Maryland's Eastern Shore is beautiful this time of year The streets and shops are decked out in shining white lights and holiday cheer. Wildset Hotel opened recently and is the perfect getaway for anyone looking for a lovely seaside escape. With a private fireplace in every room, complimentary s'mores kits to roast over a bonfire, classic clawfoot tubs, and delicious eats, there’s no shortage of things to do here. For New Year’s Eve, the hotel’s restaurant, Ruse, will be offering a special 4-course tasting menu for $115 per-person. Among a few of the menu options are a chef’s selection of raw oysters, roasted duck with koginut squash puree, smoked duck jus and whole baked lobster, and a vanilla panna cotta for dessert.
