SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK

July 6,2023 | By Sovereign Associates |

Summer in the city holds many free opportunities to enjoy the streets. There are great concerts in the parks, Music, Movies & Theatre are all on the program. The Public Theater performs plays by William Shakespeare at the Delacorte Theatre on its open-air stage in the middle of Central Park, also free. This year for the 61st season, which takes place between June 8th to August 6th, Hamlet is being staged, with Ato Blankson-Wood in the title role.

The performances are very popular with New Yorkers and tourists, so it's hard to get tickets, but you should try it; you never know what the fates will decide!

We thank Joseph Papp, who established the Public Theatre, for creating these events in 1954. In the past, celebrities such as Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Philip Seymour Hoffman, George C. Scott, and Denzel Washington have participated in the events

The closest Subways to the Delacorte Theatre are B or C to 81st, or #6 to 77th St, and walk into the park from there.
