When summer arrives, the city takes on a new level of excitement with the arrival of Summer Streets. This annual event transforms the streets of Manhattan into a pedestrian paradise, allowing residents and visitors alike to experience the city in a unique and exhilarating way.

Summer Streets began as an initiative to encourage physical activity, environmental awareness, and community engagement. The idea was to temporarily close a seven-mile stretch of streets, usually reserved for cars, and open them up exclusively for pedestrians, cyclists, and various recreational activities. This transformation allows people to explore different neighborhoods, appreciate the city's architecture, and enjoy many exciting events.

In August 2023, NYC Summer Streets will span three consecutive Saturdays, August 5^th, 12^th and 19th, offering ample opportunity for everyone to participate. Past years have seen the event occur along Park Avenue, connecting streets from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge. The route is carefully selected to showcase iconic landmarks, beautiful parks, and vibrant neighborhoods. Events have included live performances, food and beverage tastings, pop-up stalls, cycling, and rollerblading.

Mark your calendar; in August 2023, NYC Summer Streets promises to be bigger, better, and more vibrant than ever.
