Growing up I have always been a super-fan of Spanish food. In New York City that can often get mixed up to mean Latin American food (which I also love), but I’m talking authentic food with roots in Spain. This affection for traditional Spanish food comes from having lived there as a child and my love only grows every time I eat it. The problem in my neighborhood is that I have not found a lot of traditional Spanish restaurants, but Manolo Tapas lives just a train ride away and I couldn’t be happier about it.

Manolo Tapas started as a tribute to the founder of La Rosa which was a family business that had food and liquor. Manolo Tapas combines the expertise of La Rosa to celebrate the taste of Spain. The owners have incredible knowledge of how to create the best environment and best meal possible. In order to achieve the most authentic taste, most of their products are brought here right from Spain, so you know you’re getting a truly authentic experience.

Since parts of Spain are on the Mediterranean and others are on the Atlantic, Spain knows how to make some stellar seafood. So, expect to find high quality seafood dishes that burst with flavor. However, my favorite Spanish dishes are simple and absolutely delicious. I love the platter of Manchego cheese and Serrano ham. They go together as perfectly as pb & j and personally I think they’re a much better combination.  I also love La Tortilla Española which is a thick omelette style dish made with eggs, potatoes, onions, and garlic. It kind of looks like a frittata but it tastes a million times better.

There are so many options here that I could go on forever about what you could get, but you’ll have to go for yourself to discover your favorite dish. Can’t wait to see you there!
